Kevin first discovered the apartment industry while attending Texas A&M University. To earn extra income, he worked part-time as a maintenance professional while pursuing his degree in agriculture. The job gave him valuable hands-on experience and introduced him to a field that matched his natural skills.
After leaving College Station, Kevin was ready to take on life’s next chapter. He moved to Houston, eager to find both a career and an apartment of his own. One day, while waiting in the office of a leasing consultant, he had an unexpected realization. His love for building things, working with his hands, and spending time outdoors made him a perfect fit for the apartment industry.
During that visit, Kevin overheard someone mention Hire Priority Staffing. The name stuck with him. Soon after, he returned to Austin and contacted the Hire Priority team to learn more. He quickly began taking temporary assignments as a porter at several apartment communities.
Kevin’s strong work ethic and positive attitude didn’t go unnoticed. Community managers admired his dedication and consistently requested that he return for more shifts. Each new assignment helped Kevin learn something different about the industry and allowed him to grow his confidence and technical skills.
He enjoyed the flexibility of temp work because it gave him the chance to “try on” different communities. This experience helped him identify where he fit best and what kind of environment matched his goals. Once he found a property whose values aligned with his own, Kevin accepted a full-time position and officially began his career in the apartment industry.
Today, Kevin has truly found his place in the workforce. He is proud of how far he has come and looks forward to what’s ahead. His next goal is to earn his certification as an EPA Licensed Maintenance Technician. With this achievement, Kevin plans to continue climbing the career ladder and building a successful future in the industry he loves.
