This Thanksgiving marks the 26th annual Doc and Gale Young Food Drive, hosted by the Austin Apartment Association (AAA) in conjunction with members of the AAA Community Service Committee. The drive raises funds to purchase food packs for families and individuals in need throughout the Austin area, with 100% of proceeds going directly toward the cause.

For the past five years, Hire Priority has proudly contributed a percentage of its November proceeds to support the food drive and plans to do so again this year.

Giving Families the Gift of a Home-Cooked Thanksgiving

By providing food rather than money, the Doc and Gale Young Food Drive allows families to prepare and enjoy their Thanksgiving meal at home, according to their own traditions and customs.

Each food pack includes:

• A 12-pound turkey

• 10 pounds of potatoes

• Stuffing

• Flour

• Sugar

• Fruit

• And more essentials for a complete holiday meal

These food packs give local families not just nourishment, but the experience of celebrating together with dignity and comfort.

How to Donate

The food drive is now underway and will accept donations until November 9th at 5:00 p.m. All contributions are tax-deductible and can be made:

Any amount helps, but a $40 donation covers the cost of one complete food pack, enough to feed a family of five and provide leftovers for three to five days.

Meeting the Growing Need

According to the Austin American-Statesman, the number of families living in poverty has risen in recent years. The Capital Area Food Bank now distributes 50% more food than it did just three years ago.

This year’s food drive will benefit the Austin Housing Authority and TDPRS (Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services). Hire Priority is honored to contribute again to help reach the goal of $40,000 raised, enough to feed 1,250 families this Thanksgiving.
